AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo City Council will hold a special meeting to approve an operating budget for the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation.

The special meeting comes after several heated discussions in recent weeks.

The public meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall. It will also be livestreamed .

An auditor for the city said Tuesday he hadn’t found any circumstances similar to AEDC paying three years of dues to ag economic development nonprofit The Range.

While the $750,000 payment didn’t make AEDC go over budget in general, some on the council objected to the group not asking for permission from the council.
