CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - After going 1-11 in 2024 including losing their last 10 games, Charleston Southern is making some changes to their football coaching staff. A team official confirmed that 3 assistant coaches were let go from Gabe Giardina’s staff on Monday including offensive coordinator Adam Hollifield, quarterbacks coach Shuler Bentley and longtime special teams coordinator David Padilla. Hollifield spent 2 seasons at CSU but the Bucs were near the bottom of the Big South-OVC Conference in just about every offensive category this season including points scored and yards gained. Bentley, the brother of former South Carolina QB Jake Bentley, also spent 2 seasons at CSU. The Bucs were also at the bottom of league standings throwing just 9 TD passes to 15 interceptions and averaging a league worst 143.8 passing yards per game. Padilla, who also served as the Assistant AD for Football Operations, was let go after spending 16 years at Charleston Southern. CSU was at the bottom of the league in Field Goals and extra point percentage but were first in punt average and 5th in kickoff average.
