WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - It’s a cool and wet start to Memorial Day, with wake up temperatures in the 50s. Showers and storms will continue occasionally throughout the day but should wrap up before Tuesday morning. Expect afternoon highs mainly in the 60s across the state.

Additional rain amounts through tonight will likely range under a half inch for most areas, with isolated locations in southern Kansas could get up to an inch of rainfall.

We’ll get a break from the rain on Tuesday, with highs in the mid to upper 60s. Rain chances increase for western Kansas Wednesday, with some storms moving east overnight and into Thursday morning for parts of central and eastern Kansas. Severe weather is unlikely.

After our midweek rain chances, a much quieter and drier pattern will take over late week. By the weekend, temperatures will climb back to near normal in the low 80s.
