Everything in Cornwall comes with a backstory. There’s Tintagel Castle, where King Arthur was supposedly conceived. And there’s Godrevy Lighthouse, an inspiration for Virginia Woolf.

That grand old house was the model for Manderley in Rebecca (1938). Indeed, it’s exactly where Daphne du Maurier wrote her gothic classic. Penzance? Famous for its real pirates, as well as Gilbert and Sullivan’s. And that’s before we get to Jesus Christ. Some believe he beat the tourist rush by visiting Cornwall 2000 years ago.
