PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A sunny and warmer day is ahead for much of the state, with a bigger warming trend on the way for the weekend and next week. Changes will be felt across Arizona. High pressure brings clear skies and light winds today. Valley temperatures will climb from the 50s this morning to the mid-80s this afternoon, which is a few degrees above normal for this time of year in Phoenix. As high pressure strengthens over the weekend, temperatures in the Valley climb to the upper 80s on Saturday and Sunday. A passing system to our north will bring breeziness to the high country, along with a bit of cloud cover. No rain or snow is expected. Early next week, an unseasonably strong ridge of high pressure is forecast to encompass most of the West, bringing record or near-record temperatures. In the Phoenix area, that means mid-90s on Monday and upper-90s on Tuesday. Although our current forecast is for 98 degrees, it’s not out of the question we could see our first 100-degree day of the year on Tuesday. If we hit 100, it would be the earliest on record for Phoenix. Temperatures are set to come back down slightly to the mid-90s next Wednesday and Thursday. Further cooling is likely by the next weekend. See a spelling or grammatical error in our story? Please click here to report it . Do you have a photo or video of a breaking news story?
