AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Whether you’re looking for healthcare, food, clothes, transportation or employment, Resourced Augusta has done the work for you on where to go.

They’re finding solutions and all you have to do is share what your needs are.

Angela Bakos is the founder of the non-profit Resourced Augusta.

For the last five years, she’s created a collection of community resources in Columbia and Richmond counties.

She updates the list twice a year and sends it to 1,200 community partners who assist in sharing the information with people in need of resources.

For about a month now, people have been able to meet with Resourced Augusta in person at the HUB five days a week.

They’re seated next to FEMA and will soon be moving to a permanent location right down the hall at Harrisburg Family Healthcare.

“There’s a quote that says we need to stop pulling people out of the river, we need to go upstream and figure out why they’re falling in. I would love to get to that place where we aren’t just reacting to a need, but we are actually preventing the needs,” said Bakos.

Dr. Ebony Whisenant is the medical director for Harrisburg Family Healthcare, which provides healthcare to those uninsured and underinsured.

She says they’ve seen a need beyond just healthcare and through a grant brought in Resourced Augusta.

“Many times, patients will come to us, and we realize in addition to the healthcare issues, they have there are so many other things taking place in their lives. They are having issues with transportation, maintaining employment, sometimes they are housing insecure, while they are not healthcare related, they do impact a person’s overall quality of life and wellbeing,” said Whisenant.

If you need resources, you can walk in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Resourced Augusta will move into an office inside Harrisburg Family Health next month.

They say they will eventually set up a number to call, so you can get resources over the phone for those who can’t meet in person.
