MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - After a soggy Friday, the remainder of the weekend will bring a different look and feel to Alabama’s weather. The overwhelming majority of the rain will push into the Gulf of Mexico, with only a tiny chance for a quick shower for the southern half of the state.

Tonight clouds will be around. Winds will be out of the northeast around 5 to 10 mph. A few showers will be possible the closer you are to the Alabama/Florida border. Lows will hover in the middle 60s.

Location will be key on Sunday. The river region will see sunshine and a few clouds, while the further south you live the more clouds you will contend with. Highs will warm into the upper 80s along with east winds around 5 to 10 mph. A few showers will be possible during the afternoon and early evening. Lows will hover in the upper 60s under a partly cloudy sky and east winds.

Monday and Tuesday will both feature a mix of sun and clouds. Afternoon highs will top out in the upper 80s with overnight lows in the 60s. Mainly dry conditions are expected to start the week, but like Sunday, a few showers will be possible for the southern half of the state.

All eyes will be on the tropics as we move towards the end of the week. The National Hurricane Center is giving a high chance for tropical development along the coast of Texas. Models are projecting this area of low pressure to move towards the Deep South, increasing wind and rain chances by the end of the week.

Wednesday will feature a few showers with sun and clouds. Highs will be in the 80s giving way to lows around 70 degrees with increasing shower potential.

As for Thursday and Friday, those are the days we could see influence from that possible tropical system. Right now, we will keep with widely scattered showers and storms. Plenty of clouds, breezy winds and afternoon highs in the 70s and 80s with lows in the 60s.

Just note, the end of the week, forecast will change as this potential Gulf of Mexico system has NOT developed yet. That means forecast models will continue to adjust the rain potential, wind and cloud coverage by Thursday and Friday. Remain with the First Alert Weather Team and we will adjust the forecast as we continue to get better data in and move closer to the end of the work and school week ahead.
