FIRST ALERT : FIRST MOUNTAIN SNOW
We officially had our first mountain snowflakes today! Light snow accumulation will continue along the western-facing slopes of West Virginia this week. A weak disturbance will bring rounds of snow showers to the region through Wednesday.
CHILLY THROUGH THE WEEK
Highs this week will struggle to get out of the 50s and 60s for most. This means lows will tumble into the 30s and 40s, bringing back the potential for frost. The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for parts of the area Wednesday morning. Temperatures may drop as low as the low to mid 30s for some which could kill crops. Take action to protect tender vegetation. We’re giving you the
First Alert that Thursday morning will likely be the coldest morning of the week. Lows will plummet into the 20s and 30s. Watch for frost/freeze alerts issued by the National Weather Service. Plan on protecting your plants this week, and don’t forget about your pets!
FALL FOLIAGE UPDATE
We’re now in the middle of October, which means peak fall foliage is on the horizon! The Greenbrier and areas west of the Blue Ridge are experiencing moderate to high coverage of fall colors this weekend. Elsewhere, subtle pops of color are slowly arriving. Peak fall foliage will likely be in the next 1-2 weeks. Now that the Blue Ridge Parkway has reopened in Virginia, go out and do some leaf peeping!
