MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The weekend is here! Fall weather is not... after a gray and gloomy start to our Saturday morning, we will continue to be mostly cloudy and warmer than normal over the next few days. Temperatures will warm into the 77-83 degree range each afternoon today through Wednesday of next week; a few spots could pick up a quick shower over the next couple of days, but that’s the exception rather than the rule.

We know we need more wet weather, it will just be hard to come by both days this weekend.

Tracking the Tropics: As of Saturday morning, Rafael is now a tropical storm and will likely not get back up to hurricane strength. The weakening process will continue as what is left of Rafael moves in a circle and than slides southwest across the Gulf of Mexico over the next few days, all before turning into Mexico early in the upcoming workweek.

It’s no threat to Alabama and the latest track forecast makes it unlikely we even see any additional rain from this situation. But, don’t despair: we actually have a higher rain chance coming soon...

Long range forecast data shows a cold front expected to push across the area next week. That could, in turn, bring much colder air to the region.

Definitely something we will watch closely as we move through the weekend and into next week!
