BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Good morning!

Today : Temperatures are mainly starting in the 60s. Clouds will increase through the day Wednesday with a few breaks of sun allowing high temperatures to climb into the low 80s.

We can’t rule out an isolated shower as low-level moisture slowly increases across the state. Wind speeds should continue from the southeast at five to 10 mph with isolated gusts up to 15 mph.

Halloween Forecast: A cold front is forecast to push into Alabama Thursday evening. We’ll start Halloween dry with a partly cloudy sky with temperatures in the low to mid-60s.

Halloween afternoon looks unseasonably warm with highs in the low to mid 80s. We want to give you a first alert for the potential to see showers in west Alabama on Thursday evening for trick-or-treaters. Areas mainly along and east of Interstate 65 will remain rain-free.

There’s a good chance we could finish October with no measurable rain in Birmingham and Anniston. If this occurs, it will be tied for the driest October on record. Temperatures Thursday evening will likely cool into the 70s for anyone trick-or-treating.

Next Big Thing: A weak cold front will push through central Alabama Friday producing isolated light showers. We will likely remain mostly cloudy and slightly cooler for the first day of November with highs in the mid-to-upper 70s. The cold front won’t drop temperatures this weekend. Temperatures will remain above average with highs in the lower 80s Saturday and Sunday. Morning lows should remain very mild for early November with temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Daylight Saving Time Ends this weekend: We want to give you a First Alert reminder that we “fall” back this weekend. We will return to Central Standard Time early Sunday morning. Sunrise on Sunday morning will occur at 6:08 a.m. Sunset will be significantly earlier on Sunday at 4:52 p.m. The time change is a great reminder to put fresh batteries in your smoke detectors and weather radios!

Tropical Update: The tropics remain mostly quiet, but we will need to monitor the Caribbean this week as an area of low pressure is forecast to develop.

The National Hurricane Center is giving a 40% chance for tropical development in the Caribbean over the next seven days. Several models hint at something developing by the end of the week and into the upcoming weekend. Normally systems that develop in November steer away from the contiguous United States. Cuba, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico will likely want to keep a close eye on this system as it slowly develops by the end of the week. The rest of the Atlantic remains quiet.

The last day of the hurricane season occurs on November 30.
