KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Good morning, and happy Sunday! We are starting off on the cooler side this morning with most everywhere below that freezing mark. After a cooler day yesterday, this afternoon will feel very nice with highs back in the mid-50s with partly cloudy skies and increasing clouds by late tonight. Temperatures on Monday will be in the low 60s with a slight chance of a shower or two; however, heading into the overnight hours the rain and storm chances increase. A First Warn is in place on Tuesday and Wednesday as showers and storms will be moving through the area. The showers and storms fire up in the morning hours and continue through early afternoon. There will be a lull in the afternoon with some dry time before the back end of the system moves through. As temperatures decrease overnight into early Wednesday morning rain will start to transition from rain to a wintry mix and into snow showers. The best place for accumulation will be north of I70 as temperatures continue to decrease. As of right now just a dusting at best is possible. Rainfall amounts will be healthy with most areas getting 1-2 inches. The storm prediction center has put the entire viewing area under a marginal risk for a few stronger storms starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday, cooler air will settle over the region with the highs dipping about 20 degrees cooler as compared to Tuesday. It will be a breezy to windy day with sustained winds of 15-25 mph and gusts up to 35 mph. As you head north, the winds could get stronger with a potential wind advisory being issued. Temperatures warm up on Thursday and Friday with the next system we are watching. The track is going further north, resulting in most of the area staying dry with only a few showers possible. As the track moves north this allow the snow associated with the system to remain north; however, if it moves south we could see snowfall.
