KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Our brief reset to fall temperatures will soon be gone for the beginning of the new work week. Winds switch out of the south on Monday, bringing back lower 80s to the region. While it will be warm, the big story is going to be the strong wind gusts in place. Those gusts could exceed 35 mph on Monday, and strengthen even more on Tuesday, potentially up to 45+ mph. We have a First Warn for high winds this day. This, partnered with dry ground, will create elevated fire conditions (our recent thunderstorm activity did help this a bit). Expect the lower 80s through Tuesday . Another First Warn is in place on Wednesday as our next rain chance returns. As a cold front approaches, a band of rain and rumbles will develop during the day on Wednesday. There is a small chance for a stronger thunderstorm embedded, but we are not expecting a widespread severe thunderstorm risk at this time. This is another opportunity for us to pick up some much-needed rainfall. Our computer models differ in intensity right now, but I think we could at least pick up 0.25″ to 0.50″ on Wednesday. Then, temperatures fall quite a bit into Thursday (Halloween). Right now, it looks like highs will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s on Halloween afternoon. Evening costumes will likely want an extra layer! There is also another rain chance from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning . This is a bit disorganized, but we will watch it closely. There is a chance we upgrade next weekend to a First Warn for rain chances.

I have decided to add two First Warns for NEXT WEEKEND. Rain chances looking impactful enough, as of now, to pull the trigger on them.

Near-record warmth on Monday. My forecast is 83 and our record is 84 set back in 1944. Tuesday will not come close to the record of 88 set back in 1937.

-Strong wind and warm temps the main story on Monday and Tuesday.

-Gusts could exceed 40-45 mph on Tuesday so continuing the First Warn. Say goodbye to our leaves.

-A good chance for rain on Wednesday with a First Warn in place.
