KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Say goodbye to the arctic air as we are warming up this weekend! Temperatures are still cold, though, as you head out the door this morning with feels-like temperatures ranging from -5 to 5 degrees. Make sure to grab the coat as you will need it this morning. If you want to get your dog out and about, I would wait until it warms up a bit as these temperatures could still hurt their paw pads. Saturday temperatures will finally increase above the freezing mark with sunny skies and little winds from the southwest at about 5-10 mph.

For Sunday, add another 5-10 degrees to the high temperature on Saturday! It will be so nice to be outside over the weekend as we begin to thaw out from the arctic blast over the past week. However, the melting of the snow and the warming of the ground will make it a sloppy, muddy mess until things finally begin to dry up.

High pressure dominates the region, helping to increase temperatures through Tuesday with daily highs about 10-15 degrees above where we should be for this time of year.

By the middle of next week, our next system comes through with a chance for rain showers as temperatures stay well above the average. This system does move into very dry air which could result in a few sprinkles instead of a downpour. Right now, models are indicating most areas stay dry with only a few places getting some sprinkles. An isolated shower or two is possible on Thursday with highs in the 50s.
