BLUE RIDGE, Va. (WDBJ) - Layman Family Farms is gearing up for its first Virginia Flower Fest. “We do this for the community and if it wasn’t for the community, we wouldn’t be here,” said Eric Layman, owner of Layman Family Farms. Layman planted more than 45,000 tulips in December, and now they’re starting to see the light of day. “The tulips are coming up good and I think they’re going to be beautiful,” Layman said. Layman Family Farms posted about the event on Facebook and word traveled fast. With more than 7,000 likes and 1,800 shares, it’s all the talk right now. “We’ll have all the same fall activities – the carousel, the jumping pillow, the cow train, we’ll have the tulips, and we’ll have some great photo ops," Layman explained. Patience is key for this event. Originally the festival was supposed to kick off on March 22nd. “Mother nature is kind of playing games with me this year, but we’ll take it,” Layman explained. This is a new thing and they’re figuring it out as they go. Check the Layman Family Farms Facebook page for the latest updates. It’s a small beginning Layman feels really good about. “If the Lord blesses us, we’ll keep going and we’ll keep growing just like our fall event,” he said.
