COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A First Alert Weather Day remains in effect for the return of heavy rain to the Midlands starting late tonight. Good afternoon my friends! Similar to yesterday, rounds of showers will occur as the day progresses. In between showers, peeks of sunshine will help milder high temperatures top out around 70 degrees. The approaching cold front bringing us these rounds of rain will arrive on our doorstep late tonight and tomorrow morning. Once it gets here, the downpours will become much stronger, which is why we have a First Alert Weather Day in effect. Localized flooding is possible in isolated portions of the Midlands. The best chance at the heaviest rain that could lead to isolated flooding will occur in the Upstate. By tomorrow afternoon, 1 to 3 inches of rain will fall across South Carolina, with locally higher amounts near the Upstate. Behind this cold front, highs will drop into the 50s, with morning lows in the 30s. Today: Passing showers throughout the day. Between rounds of rain, peeks of sunshine will help highs top out around 70 degrees. (First Alert Weather Day) Tonight: Heavy rain arrives after Midnight. Chance of rain 90%. Lows hover around 60 degrees. First Alert Weather Day (Wednesday): Heavy rain, especially in the morning. Chance of rain 100%. Clearing to sunshine late in the afternoon, with highs during the morning in the low-60s. Thursday: Lots of sunshine. Breezy, with highs in the mid-50s. Friday: Cloud cover increasing throughout the day. Highs in the low-50s. Saturday: Partly to mostly cloudy skies. Highs in the mid-50s. Sunday: Scattered showers in the morning. Chance of rain 30%.
