COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - This weekend will feel like we’ve skipped ahead a month to June as temperatures will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s for highs. The heat and humidity will work with a weakening cold front and aid in the development of a few isolated storms.

Saturday is off to a cloudy start, but peeks of sunshine should prevail as we get into the afternoon. Despite the clouds and some upstream showers and storms across the Upstate this morning, most of the Midlands will stay dry this morning. However, a quick round of rain or sprinkles can’t be ruled out this morning for Columbia and points north and west.

This afternoon, a cold front and the heat and humidity may help to create a few isolated showers and storms. Again, most areas should stay dry. As the front approaches the Midlands, winds will become a bit gusty at times. Otherwise, highs will top out around 90 degrees under a mix of sun and clouds.

The Storm prediction Center has outlined parts of our region for a Marginal Risk (level 1 out 5) for severe storms. Main threat will be damaging wind gusts.

Highs will remain above normal into the first half of next week. There will also be about a 20% chance of a stray downpour, but most spots will stay dry until Wednesday. Wednesday features a better chance for scattered showers and storms with a stronger cold front. Temperatures turn a bit cooler Thursday behind the front.

Today: Becoming partly cloudy. Gusts over 20 mph possible at times. Slight chance of a shower or storm. Highs near 90 degrees.

Tonight: Warm and muggy. Not as breezy. Lows in the mid and upper 60s to around 70 degrees.

Sunday: Mix of sun and clouds. 20% chance of rain. Highs in the upper 80s.

Monday: Highs near 90 degrees. Chance of a few showers or storms, mainly in the afternoon or evening.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy with a slight storm chance. Highs in the lower 90s.

Wednesday: Scattered showers and storms. Chance of rain 50%. Highs in the upper 80s.

Thursday: Dry, cooler, and less humid. Highs in the upper 70s.
