GEORGETOWN, Ind. (WAVE) -After much hype and anticipation, Wicked is now in theaters. An Indiana man got to play a part in the music. Brad Ritchie worked on music preparation from his studio in Georgetown, Indiana. The Floyd Central theater kid shared this secret. ”I’ve never seen the musical,” Ritchie said. “And of course, I haven’t seen the movie.” Ritchie studied music at UofL, and scoring for motion picture and television at the University of Southern California. Now, his name is in the blockbuster’s credits. ”There’s me way down there,” Ritchie said, showing his name. So, what was his job for this movie? ”You have to make sure what the orchestrator did gets on the stands with no errors, there’s no questions, it has to be perfect,” Ritchie said. He admitted it was stressful. Ritchie made the music easy for each musician to read. Like making a book with a larger font and double-spaced. He didn’t print it as he sometimes does. A PDF for each instrument was sent to London, where the orchestra recorded the music. ”There’s no room for error,” he said. “You got to think about the fact that when you’ve got 80 plus musicians sitting on a stage in a studio, literally every minute is thousands of dollars. So, if I’ve got wrong notes in a violin part and everything ceases, that’s not a good look.” This isn’t his first film. Ritchie worked on Despicable Me Four and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga . Recently, he’s been busy creating the music for the Louisville Orchestra’s upcoming concert with Rapper Jack Harlow. ”I get Jack’s songs,” Ritchie said. “So, it’s my and my team’s job to put the orchestra behind it.” His job has led to incredible moments, and technology allows him to live in his hometown. ”People automatically assume if not in LA or New York you can’t be legit,” Ritchie said. But he is. And now, being a part of Wicked , proves it. ”There are still times where I go, what is going on? How am I doing this? He says he impressed his two children the most when he worked on one of the PAW Patrol movies. He is now starting a new company with a partner in Los Angeles called On Staff Music Services.
