The New York Jets will get the Darren Mougey/Aaron Glenn era underway on Sept. 7 with a season-opening home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After quarterback Justin Fields faces his former team in Week 1, the Jets will remain at home and host the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 14. The Jets will technically be the "home" team in five of their first seven games and in six of their first nine games for the first time since 1964.

2025 Jets Schedule Highlights

Familiar Fields
The Jets signed Justin Fields in March and their new starting QB will make his Green & White debut against his former team -- the Pittsburgh Steelers -- in Week 1.

Last season in Pittsburgh, Fields (6-3, 227) went 4-2 as a starter while totaling 10 TDs (5 pass/5 run) against just 2 turnovers. His 66% completion percentage and 93.9 passer rating were career highs. This will be the first time the Jets and the Steelers meet in a season opener and the first Jets' home opening-date against the Steelers since a 23-17 Thursday night loss to Pittsburgh in the Meadowlands on Sept. 6, 1984. Aaron Rodgers, who started 17 games for the Jets last season and has had conversations with the Steelers, remains a free agent.

Playoff Teams Early
Although the Jets' opponents' strength of schedule ranks 26th, the Green & White will line up against 2024 playoff clubs in each of their first three contests and four of their first six overall.
