KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - A woman is dead and a man is hospitalized following a shooting in Kansas City, Kan., Monday morning.

Police believe the two people were shot near N. 51st Street and Leavenworth Road at 11 a.m.

When officers arrived in the neighborhood, they found a woman suffering from several gunshots outside of a house. She later died from her injuries at a hospital.

Several minutes later officers received a second call about a shooting less than a mile away near N. 50th Terrace and Cleveland Avenue.

Officers responded to the second scene and found a man suffering from a gunshot injury. He is hospitalized due to the extent of the injuries, according to officers.

Detectives believe both people were shot at the Leavenworth Road location and the man made it to Cleveland Avenue before help arrived.
