PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - It is going to be a soggy day across the Mid-Ohio Valley as rain pushes through the region this morning. Roads will be soaked, and some heavy downpours will be possible during the morning commute. It is going to be a good idea to leave a bit early to get to work or school as roads will be slick. The bulk of the rain that we will be seeing today will mainly occur during the morning hours. We will get a bit of a break during the afternoon, but more scattered showers will be around later and into the evening commute. Even though it will be a bit of a messy day across the region, it is going to help us out with the ongoing drought. We will easily pick up over half an inch of rain across all of the Mid-Ohio Valley and even get up to an inch in total for some. Now, we will see a new update to the drought monitor this morning, but it is not going to include any rain that we get today. It will include Sunday’s rain, so we may see some improvements. However, more improvements are likely when we get next Thursday’s update. A few showers will linger about overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning. Afterwards, we will be drying out through the weekend. It will be a tad bit damp Friday since we will be looking at mainly cloudy skies. The sun will not be helping us much that day. Besides that, we will be looking at a little bit of a warming trend through the weekend. Saturday will hover in the mid-50s, but Sunday will be pleasant as we climb back up into the lower 60s. The start of next week will be on the dry side, but more rain is on the way again. The next batch will be some scattered showers on Tuesday. We are not looking at a soaking rain like Sunday and Thursday. However, since we will only be dry for a few days, a little bit of rain will still be going a long way in the battle to get the drought out of the Mid-Ohio Valley. Even better, we are looking at the chance for some more precipitation towards the end of next week. So, we are looking at even more help with cutting back the drought.
