TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A mild week ahead with highs mainly in the 40s and 50s. Plenty of sun for the first half of the work week however a storm system that will mainly bring rain to the area is expected to move through to end the week. These next 3 days with highs in the 40s and even 50s will continue to melt a lot of the leftover snow. This will be something to monitor as to how much of the snow on the ground is still impacting the high temperatures each day….snow on the ground leads to cooler temperatures than expected so Tuesday and Wednesday’s highs may be adjusted based on how warm it gets today. Today: Sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Winds SW 5-15, gusts up to 25 mph. Tonight: Clear. Lows in the mid 20s. Winds SW/W around 5 mph. Tomorrow: Sunny. Highs in the upper 40s-low 50s. Winds W 5-15 mph. Most spots will be around 50° with winds 10 mph or less on Wednesday for the nicest/warmest day of the week with clouds increasing Wednesday night. Will keep it dry Wednesday night for now however IF precipitation does move in early enough late in the overnight period of Thursday morning, there may be a wintry mix before it changes over to rain. With rain as the dominate precipitation type to end the week, many spots may end up getting 0.25″-0.75″. As always there will be exceptions with some areas getting less and some areas getting more but models are trending toward more spots getting ‘more’ than ‘less’ within that range. All the precipitation will be gone for the weekend despite some clouds sticking around with highs warming back up.
