Arrowhead Transit is launching a new weekly bus service connecting Ely to Virginia. Starting Tuesday, June 24, the Boundary Waters Loop will make stops in Babbitt, Embarrass, and Tower before reaching Virginia.

The new route means Ely-area residents will have expanded access to essential services, groceries, health, and the Range Regional Airport.

“This is more than a route—it’s a connection to opportunity,” said Adam Roen, Transit Manager for St. Louis County. “It gives Ely residents access not only to hospitals and major retailers, but also to job centers, the airport, and connecting transit routes that reach across the region. It’s one more way we’re closing the gap for rural communities.”

Arrowhead Transit added this new route based on feedback from Ely and Babitt residents who wanted more access to to Quad Cities.

The fare is $5 one-way. Reservations are required 1-800-862-0175.
