MOSINEE, Wis. -- (WAOW) The folks at the Central Wisconsin Airport announced that a new general aviation terminal is coming to the airport, replacing the current one which has been in service since the 1970s.

The airport's board recently approved the new facility, and released concepts of what it might look like. Airport officials say the old terminal has outgrown its use, and they hope to provide a bigger space for corporate, personal, and training jets.

Assistant Airport Director Mark Cihlar says that it will make traffic flow easier between commercial flights and general ones, by keeping them in separate areas.

Cihlar said, "What it will do is it will create some better separation on the airfield of the general aviation planes coming and going, getting them moved a little bit further away from the commercial terminal building."

He said funding for the project is set to come from the local, state, and federal level. While the still have to secure federal grants, Cihlar said they hope to break ground on the new terminal between Spring and Fall of next year.
