ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Beautiful October weather was seen in Anchorage and Southcentral Alaska on Tuesday, and without any snow, many areas still have great conditions to do that fall walk or bike ride. Temperatures went above normal in Anchorage on Tuesday, hitting 48 degrees for the high, some 5 degrees above the normal high. The city also saw its coldest start to the day since April with temperatures through the Anchorage Bowl in the 20s. Temperatures were coldest over the northern coast, down to 10 degrees in the afternoon in Deadhorse. Storms flank the state from the northwest and over the Aleutians, with a weak low still spinning its last energy. With high pressure overhead in Southcentral, it is dry and clear. Showers stretch from the Aleutians and continues into Southeast Alaska. The storm dropping in over Northwest Alaska will bring snow to the western Brooks Range and north coast. Snow will work its way into the interior and east Thursday and Friday. Susitna Valley’s higher elevations could see a dusting of snow. Kenai Peninsula locations can expect clear, sunny daytime weather and with the clear sky, cold at night. Gusty winds will be seen at times for Whittier, Cordova, Valdez.
