FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — It's a day Jamey and Reina Brice will never forget: April 18, 2024. That's when dozens of medical staff, loved ones, and first responders lined the halls of a Northeast D.C. hospital for an "honor walk" for their two boys who died after their Clifton home caught fire. One year later, the Brice family sat down with 7News. "Our last family photo was on Easter," Jamey said. It's a holiday that looks quite different for the family this year as they hold their 9-day-old daughter, Hannah Joy, in their arms. "When we found out she [Reina] was pregnant, I was like OK, clearly God’s got something up his sleeve," Jamey said. "There was a time we thought, 'Oh maybe we’re done having kids.' But clearly He had other ideas here." They hold onto Hannah tight, just like their memories of William (6) and Zachariah (3). "I remember feeling kind of angry, feeling in shock, feeling in disbelief, in denial, like hey this is a bad dream, you know. They’re going to come through the door at any point," Jamey said. Jamey and Reina find peace in knowing their sons' legacy lives on. "This is Sheila here," Jamey said, pointing to a photo."We heard from them a few months ago she got Zachariah’s liver." The boys' organs saved 8 lives. "This is Steve, Jamey said, pointing to another photo. "He got one of Zachariah’s kidneys. The crazy thing was he was only given a year to live, but because he’s got Zachariah’s kidney now, he’s expected to live 30 more years." The days are hard, but their faith guides them always. "I think people discount prayer, but it’s actually the best thing you can do," Reina said. "Asking for help is also OK, or if you just need somebody to sit with you and don’t talk or if you need to go outside and yell and scream." "We kind of started praying for wisdom," Jamey said. "Faith and grief can coexist, and experiencing grief doesn’t make you less of a person; it makes you stronger a person I think." The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), an international nonprofit, is hosting a wrestling tournament on May 10 in William's honor. Details can be found here .
