VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Aziaha James won 4 straight state championships at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, becoming one of the best players in her high school class in the process. She helped lead the NC State Wolfpack to the Final Four as a junior and was first team All ACC as a senior. She even won 3 championships as a middle schooler.

Despite an already packed basketball resume, Monday night has to stand out for the former Virginia State Player of the Year.

James was picked in the first round of the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings, 12th overall. In attendance on draft night, she took the stage and held up her newest jersey.

James joins Elizabeth Williams as Princess Anne players to go in the top 12 of the draft. She'll join number 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers in Dallas, set on making her mark at yet another level of women's basketball.
