PENDELTON COUNTY, Ky. (WXIX) - Officials at a Northern Kentucky animal shelter are trying to figure out who abandoned some puppies in the cold.

Officials with the Pendleton County Animal Shelter say the good news is all of the puppies are alive and okay but they still want to know more about the person who dumped them.

Shelter leaders say a Rumpke driver found the puppies and got them to the shelter.

They were inside a plastic bin and had been left at the intersection of 17 and Bryan Griffin Road.

It’s not clear how long they were there or where the mother of the puppies is now.

According to what someone wrote on the bin, the puppies are three weeks old.

The person also wrote that they couldn’t afford the fees and tried to make sure something kept them warm until they were found.

Shelter officials say the puppies are now with a rescue.

They are asking the person who left them or anyone with information to call the shelter at 859-472-5400.
