Benicia police made an arrest after they were alerted by a local grocery store about a woman using counterfeit money. According to a social media post from the Benicia Police Department , last Friday, a 40-year-old woman from Richmond purchased a spending card with $400 in counterfeit $50 bills.

The store contacted the authorities again the following day when the suspect returned to the shop. Upon being confronted by police, Ashley Erika Salinas was found on probation for theft in Solano County and was arrested for the counterfeit incident from the previous day. Additional counterfeit money was discovered in her vehicle, which drew attention due to an expired registration of more than two years, the police department's social media post reported.
