WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts because big changes arrive over the weekend. It’s a mild but quiet morning across the state with breezy winds. Expect highs to climb into the 70s and 80s this afternoon under partly cloudy skies and strong south winds with gusts up to 40 mph.

A storm system will begin to move into the region Saturday. Most of the day will be cloudy, warm, and breezy, but storms will develop into the evening/night. A few storms in south central into southeast Kansas could be strong to severe with quarter sized hail and gusts up to 70 mph.

Spotty showers could turn into a rain/snow mix Sunday morning for north/western Kansas. Snow accumulations are not expected. Much cooler temperatures in the 40s and 50s will follow into Sunday afternoon.

Quiet conditions return Monday and most of Tuesday, with temperatures recovering to the 60s and 70s. Another system will race into the region Tuesday night, bringing a chance for scattered storms across central and eastern Kansas.
