COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Our next cold front brings widespread rain and thunder to the Midlands Wednesday, putting us under a First Alert Weather Day. First Alert Headlines . Good morning! After a frigid start to the day, high pressure hangs around the Carolinas, keeping control of our forecast. This will help us warm up quickly as we head into the afternoon. Under a mostly sunny sky, high temperatures will reach the low-60s. Tuesday, spring-like warmth returns to South Carolina ahead of our next cold front. Due to moisture increasing ahead of this boundary, we’ll have more cloud cover for the daytime hours. High temperatures will reach the low-70s. Wednesday is a First Alert Weather Day as we track showers and thunderstorms across the Midlands with this next cold front. As of this morning, the main timing for heavy rain and strong wind gusts will occur in the late-morning and early afternoon. At times, wind gusts of 30 to 40 MPH can’t be ruled out. Also, while the chance is low, severe weather is possible as this cold front moves through. Strong wind gusts over 60 MPH and a brief tornado are the main threats. Today: Mostly sunny.
