DULUTH, Minn. — Saturday, local experts were sharing tips at the Depot’s annual Spring Gardening Extravaganza.

With the turn of seasons, many northlanders are looking forward to getting their hands dirty this spring.

The theme of this years event was “creating a better garden for a better life.”

Speakers shared their insights into the garden world before attendees broke out into workshops, focusing on different types of gardening, from house plants, to produce.

The event was open for gardeners of all experience levels.

“We want to encourage everybody, even if you’ve got a small space, a container garden, a balcony, a patio, there’s something here for everybody. And it’s all good for you, both physical from what you consume, as well as psychologically, just appreciating the beauty of the natural world,” Horticulturalist Bob Olen said.

Many of the speakers shared the health benefits of gardening to the audience, saying plants can even boost morale.
