HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WAFF ) - After over 20 years of producing engines in Madison County, the Toyota Alabama facility announced the production of its 10 millionth engine Thursday.

This 10 millionth engine is one of over 700,000 engines that are produced every year at the plant.

Roughly 1/3 of Toyota vehicles seen on the road have their engines produced in Madison County.

Brandon French started working on these engines as a team member almost 22 years ago. He has personally seen many of these engines be produced, as he started as a production line team member.

“From engine one to engine 10 million, that’s a sense of pride,” French said. “It’s a sense of accomplishment. It’s an outstanding feeling to be a part of that whole feat for all those years and put those engines out in those vehicles which are some of the best on the road.”

French said this milestone was only made possible by the hard work of many people.

“There’s a sense of pride knowing you’ve played some part in the development of others,” French said. “The promotion and movement of people and product in the plant and achieving goals that individuals have set for themselves and the company has set itself. Having a hand in all of that is a huge accomplishment.”
