The South Carolina Department of Transportation issued an alert to drivers on Thursday about a month-long road closure in Cherokee County.

Beginning Dec. 9, crews will temporarily close Windslow Avenue as part of the I-85 Widening Project.

The road is expected to reopen by Jan. 9, officials said.

As part of this closure, a detour route has been set up using Hyatt Street, Overbrook Drive, and West Rutledge Avenue.

Windslow Avenue will be open to local traffic only during the closure.


SCDOT officials asked drivers to slow down and pay attention to crews when driving near the work zone.
