VIRGINIA (WDBJ) - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is now accepting digital Virginia IDs at airport security checkpoints, the TSA announced Tuesday. According to the TSA, travelers can download the Virginia Mobile ID (mID) app and scan their phone in replacement of a physical ID. To download the app, users must have a valid Virginia drivers license or ID card. The TSA adds the scanning technology is able to verify the traveler’s ticket, replacing the physical boarding pass in security checkpoints. A boarding pass must still be presented to an airline gate agent. The TSA states the mID is accepted at over 230 airports, with more airports being added each week. For more information, click here.
