STORRS, CT (WFSB) - UConn football announced that they will be playing the University of North Carolina at the Wasabi Fenway Bowl in Boston.

Students are already looking up tickets and planning rides to go see their Huskies play.

Fenway Park is about an hour and a half drive from Storrs, marking the closest location UConn has ever had for a bowl game.

Students expect the Huskies to pack Fenway as if it were a home game.

William Johns is a junior at UConn. He explained his plans to attend the game.

“We saw the Instagram [post] and I was like, ‘dude you coming’? I’m from Connecticut and he’s from New York, so we can meet there easily. We’re already on it,” Johns said.

Students are excited to experience the Fenway atmosphere.

“I’m a big Red Sox fan so going to Fenway, seeing the green monster, and UConn football, what’s better than that?” said Jonathan Kidd, UConn junior.

Students have plenty of time to make their plans.

The Wasabi Fenway Bowl kicks off December 28 at 11 a.m.
