COLUMBIA, Mo. (KFVS) - Industry experts say homeowners should be thinking about their home’s energy efficiency ahead of the cold winter months. ‘Weatherization,’ refers to the process of evaluating and modifying your home to be energy efficient and resilient during periods of more extreme environmental conditions. The increase in efficiency translates to a decrease in energy costs, as there is significantly less energy spent on maintaining a consistent temperature in your home. “We’ve seen people reduce their bills by 30% just by getting these weatherization measures in place, and that’s really without spending any money at all,” said Page Selby, Manager of Customer Advocacy with Ameren Missouri. You can get more information about weatherization and access to support resources at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ website .
