CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - As we approach the end of the work week, the weather continues to deliver mild and enjoyable conditions across the region. Sunshine will dominate the skies, accompanied by a gusty southeast wind, with speeds reaching up to 25 mph during the afternoon. Temperatures will be comfortably warm, with highs in the 70s. While these conditions may be great for outdoor activities, they also come with a high fire risk. Dry conditions combined with gusty winds create an environment ripe for fire hazards, so it’s important to stay mindful and avoid any unnecessary open burning to keep the community safe. Heading into the weekend, the pleasant, above-normal temperatures persist. We’ll see highs remain in the mid to upper 70s, offering a perfect opportunity to enjoy outdoor plans. However, the continued lack of rain means that fire dangers will stay elevated throughout the weekend. While it’s dry now, there is a limited opportunity for rainfall early next week. A slight chance for spotty showers exists Monday night into Tuesday morning, though the rain if it occurs, is expected to be light and scattered. Don’t forget the Halloween Parade in Cedar Rapids this Saturday. It will be broadcast on KCRG 9.2. In summary, enjoy the mild and breezy conditions while being cautious of fire risks. Keep an eye on the slight chance for some light showers early next week, and be prepared for cooler temperatures to arrive as we approach the last days of October.
