WASHINGTON -- No survivors are expected after a passenger plane and a military helicopter carrying a total of 67 people collided over the Potomac River in Washington, officials told reporters Thursday.

"At this point, we don't believe there are any survivors from this accident. We have recovered 27 people from the plane and one from the helicopter," John Donnelly, the District of Columbia fire and emergency medical services chief, said at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
