Our weather will stay warm and relatively quiet on Thursday. Highs will be more late-May like into the upper 70s and 80s. However, high fire danger and gusty winds return to western Kansas.

Our next storm system is scheduled to arrive on Friday. While a few rain showers are expected over western and northern Kansas, this will be more of a wind event. Wind gusts in excess of 50 mph and low humidity will create critical to extreme fire weather concerns. A Storm Team 12 Weather Alert is in effect for south central KS, as we will see the highest winds and worst of the fire conditions. Please avoid any and all outdoor burning!

Looking ahead… after a cooler weekend in the 50s and 60s, warmer temperatures quickly come back to Kansas early next week. Highs in the 70s on Monday will be replaced by 80s on Tuesday as stronger winds come back to the state.
