Fortunately for Georgia, they are almost guaranteed a spot in the playoff win or lose. If they win, the scenario is pretty simple. But if Georgia loses to Texas, the scenarios get much more complicated.

If Georgia loses the SEC Championship

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee has already said they won't penalize teams for losing in their respective conference championship games. If that holds true, a three-loss Georgia team could very well end up hosting a first-round playoff game.

The current CFP projection has Georgia as the No. 7 seed if they lose and hosting No. 10 Indiana. That hypothetical matchup would take place inside Sanford Stadium. If Georgia won, they would then advance and ironically play No. 2 Texas in a neutral-site CFP quarterfinal matchup.

There is also a chance the CFP committee could rank Georgia as the No. 9-12 seed, meaning they would be on the road for its first playoff game.
