PHOENIX (AZFamily) —Weather changes are on the way to Arizona to kick off the new week. As a cold front and low pressure system sweep through the region, winds will pick up and temperatures drop. Look for mostly cloudy skies in the Valley today. Thin clouds are streaming in from the west, but won’t bring Valley rain. We’ll top out near 82 degrees, which is a few degrees above the average high of 79 degrees this time of year. Winds pick up statewide today with the approach of a cold front, which is set to sweep through the state tonight. Valley winds will peak late tonight and continue tomorrow at about 10 to 20 miles per hour, with gusts possible to 30 miles per hour. Tuesday will be breezy and cooler with a Valley high of 72 degrees. Stronger winds are expected in the high country and will arrive today. A Wind Advisory is in effect for portions of the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains tomorrow for even stronger winds that could gust to 55 miles per hour. Fire danger will be especially high with the winds, with little rain or snow with this storm. While far Northern Arizona spots like the Kaibab Plateau could see one to two inches of snow, Flagstaff will see much less, if any, snow. Most of the snow showers with this system will stay north of the I-40. A warm-up begins once the front moves out of the region. Look for low 80s for Thursday and Friday in the Valley, with mid to upper 80s for the weekend. We’re seeing indications that a stronger ridge of high pressure will bring a return of highs in the 90s next week. We’ll keep you updated. See a spelling or grammatical error in our story?
