ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A woman is dead after she was hit by a car while walking along the Seward Highway Monday morning, according to the Anchorage Police Department.Police say officers responded to the area near milepost 108.5, near the Rainbow Trailhead, just after 6 a.m. to reports of a car hitting a pedestrian.According to APD, a man driving a Toyota Sienna struck the woman while traveling towards Anchorage.Life-saving measures were performed on the woman, but she was ultimately declared dead on the scene by medics with the Anchorage Fire Department.Police say the driver remained on scene and is being cooperative. No charges have been filed.An investigation into how the crash happened, and where the woman was when she was struck, is underway.Police say one lane of the Seward Highway near the scene is open while the investigation continues.This is a developing story.
