A Silver Spring man has won the lottery not once, but TWICE playing the same game at the same convenience store.

About a month ago, Jorge Matamoros walked into the 29 Convenience Mart in Silver Spring to buy a lottery ticket, specifically the 20x the Cash game. That ticket ended up being a winner, netting Matamoros a $5,000 payday. So, what did he do with his winnings? He ignored the advice of every financial planner in the country and bought another lottery ticket. Same scratch-off game. Same convenience store. Except this time, he didn't win $5,000. He hit the jackpot and won $50,000.

“This still feels like such a dream to me,” Matamoros said of his double-win. “I certainly didn’t think there would be any more big winners at this store so it totally took me by surprise.” When asked what he intends to do with the winnings, Jorge Matamoros said that he is going to pay off some of his debts and use the rest to invest in a new business of flipping residential homes. "It would be great to make a living doing what I love to do, fixing up homes," he explained. Matamoros isn't the only winner in this story. The 29 Convenience Mart will also receive a $500 prize from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Another area native struck gold this week. Bethesda native and Olympic Gold Medalist Katie Ledecky will be inaugurated into the DC Sports Hall of Fame this summer.
