Who among us isn’t a lover of wine? Drinking wine is a pastime -- an excuse to get together with friends for a whole evening and do nothing but sit outside and chat about life. But wine bottles don’t always come cheap -- at least the good ones don’t. So to solve that problem, here are three restaurants in the Dupont Circle neighborhood -- a place known for cute restaurants, bars, and shops (so you should check it out sober, too!) -- featuring half-price bottles of wine. Circa 1601 Connecticut Avenue NW Washington, D.C., 20009 Circa may be a chain, but the Dupont Circle crowd knows it’s an easy, reliable happy hour and dinner destination. Especially since on Monday nights, they’re marking all the bottles of wine half off. And what better way to take the edge of your Monday than to drink a bottle of wine (or two) at half price? Most of the selection is domestic -- wines from California and a few from Oregon. There are, however, some great French wines, and a few from places like Argentina, Germany, Austria, and New Zealand. They also feature a small section of bubbly options -- for that real special Monday. Sit at the large-scale bar or the cute covered patio, enjoy a nice dinner, and pair with your favorite glass of red or white. Full menu can be found here.
Duke’s Grocery 1513 17th St. NW Washington, D.C., 20036 Another reason to come to Duke’s Grocery (besides an amazing burger which you can read all about here) is the half-price bottles of wine on Monday nights. From 7 p.m. to close, you can enjoy any wine on the menu at such an amazingly low price that you might even have to get two bottles! There is great variety in the menu’s selection, with wines ranging from different countries such as Spain, Argentina, Australia, Portugal, and California (which yes, we know isn’t really a country, but you get the point). Sit on the patio and enjoy the fall breeze, the company (hopefully), and the smooth taste of your preferred liquid juice. This deal is your excuse to indulge on a Monday night. Full wine menu can be found here. Floriana 1602 17th St. NW Washington, D.C., 20009 If you like to drink wine more than two times a week, Floriana is the place for you. They offer half-price bottles on Wednesday and Sunday, so you can really make the most of your hump day and Sunday Funday. All wines on their menu abide by this deal, and if you go to their menu, you'll find a description next to each wine so you can make an informed decision. Floriana features fresh Italian food, and really, what goes better with pasta, risotto, and gnocchi than a bottle of a full-bodied red wine? Seriously, though, nothing sounds better than that on a Sunday night. The selection leans heavy toward Italians, but for those less sophisticated, there are some Californian options as well.
