According to the National Barbecue News, two Virginia BBQ spots were named as the "Best of the Best Barbecue Restaurants in America."National Barbecue News, a publication dedicated to all things barbecue, named two Virginia BBQ restaurants as the "Best of the Best Barbecue Restaurants in America." The winners: Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company, with locations in Alexandria and Arlington, and Checkered Pig BBQ & Ribs, which has locations in Martinsville and Danville. [gallery columns="2" size="large" ids="2042,2041"] Affiliates of the publication visit the restaurants and do a taste test, without the restaurants' knowledge. The honor is awarded for a one-year period, only if they pass the taste test. Once the 12-month period is up, each listed restaurant will be re-tested in the same manner to see if they can make it on the list for an additional year.
