Four Colorado-based businesses made Forbes' 2017 list of America's Largest Private Companies, sorted by revenue.Of the 225 largest private companies in the country, four are from Colorado, a 2017 report from Forbes says. Englewood-based CH2M Hill Cos landed at No. 67 on the list of America's Largest Private Companies -- the highest of any Colorado business, with $5.42 billion in revenue. CH2M Hill Cos employs 20,000 people and "provides engineering, construction, operations, and related technical services to public and private clients worldwide," Forbes says. "The company concentrates on transportation, water, energy, environment, communications, advanced technology and other industrial facilities." General contractor Hensel Phelps Construction, which operates out of Greeley, came in at No. 119 ($3.55 billion). Hensel Phelps has more than 3,000 employees. Some of their more impressive projects have included the Pentagon renovation, as well as work on the San Jose International Airport Terminal Area Improvement Program.
Meanwhile, industrial and automotive manufacturer Gates Corp. landed at No. 149 ($3 billion), with cheese manufacturer Leprino Foods at No. 152 ($3 billion). Both of those businesses are headquartered in Denver. [gallery columns="2" size="large" ids="21171,21170"] Topping the list was Cargill, an agricultural distributor out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, with a staggering revenue of $109.7 billion. Cargill was followed by Koch Industries (No. 2), Albertsons (No. 3), Deloitte (No. 4), Pricewaterhouse Coopers (No. 5), Mars (No. 6), Publix Super Markets (No. 7), Bechtel (No. 8), Ernst & Young (No. 9), and C&S Wholesale Grocers (No. 10). Other notable list-makers: Toys 'R' Us at No. 22 ($11.5 billion), Petsmart at No. 46 ($7 billion), and Uber at No 52 (6.5 billion). To read all the Forbes rankings, click here.
