Rumor has it.
Word on the street is that Act II, the classic microwave popcorn company, is going to release a Mac and Cheese-flavored microwaveable popcorn. From whence this rumor appeared, we cannot say, only that we hope it's true. As far as we can trace it, Delish wrote that Instagram accounts JunkFoodMom and JunkPickers posted that the 40-year-old popcorn company, made and distributed by Conagra, would be releasing a microwave popcorn inspired by one of America's favorite foods—mac and cheese.
No word yet on whether the rumored creation will be an Act II solo act, or perhaps a collaboration with that American deity of mac and cheese, Kraft. And in either case, as Delish pointed out, "How will the mac and cheese flavor differ from just cheese?" What exactly does popcorn, pasta, cheese, and milk taste like? And will it be ... good? Only time will tell.
Here's hoping the gods of microwave popcorn make this one come true. And if the rumor is unfounded, then maybe Act II will see the demand and make it happen anyways!
If you can't wait that long, you can follow Instagram user @steven.quintanilla's lead and "sprinkle the cheese powder from kraft mac and cheese on it to make cheese popcorn." Just follow this very, very easy video recipe, et voila. Your very own questionable flavor mix!
Try it out, and let us know what you think. And hey, if Act II never releases a mac and cheese popcorn of its own, this is your shot—you know where you can find a lot of curious customers!
What do you think of the rumored new flavor? Would you try it? Let us know in the comments!
