We can't believe it's not beer! Or, can we?
Defying all expectations, Flying Dog has added an alcohol-free beer to their lineup. The brewery released its first non-alcoholic beverage earlier this month appropriately called the Deep Fake. It combines grapefruit, passionfruit, and mango flavors with Citra and Simcoe hops to recreate the feel of an IPA. The result? A smooth, citrusy beverage made for lazy summer days--and without a single drop of alcohol to be found!
For the masterminds behind The Truth Imperial IPA (a whopping 8.7-percent ABV), this is a truly impressive feat.
“Choosing a non-alcoholic beer shouldn’t mean suffering through a tasteless, watery imposter,” Flying Dog's VP of Marketing James Maravetz said in a press release. “Deepfake gives you the satisfaction of drinking a real beer, without the added calories and alcohol. It would fool anyone.”
The Frederick-based brewery reportedly went to work on fine-tuning the beverage, utilizing their brewery knowledge to create a drink so authentic, no one would be able to tell the difference. Put this theory to the test by bringing a six-pack to your next pool party or picnic—the response could be interesting!
Between mocktails and seltzers, more people are cooling off this summer with alcohol-free drinks. It could be for many reasons: watching your calorie intake, avoiding a hangover, or just choosing not to imbibe altogether. Now with one of Maryland's biggest brewers on the market, everyone can have a little something to sip during the season.
So whether you're a craft beer enthusiast or keeping things dry, Deepfake ticks all the boxes for a deceptively refreshing drink. And according to the press release, it appears to also be available year-round, too. Win-win! You can visit Flying Dog's website to find it at a store near you.
