Last year it was ice cream, and this year it's beer!

National Mustard Day is on August 1, and the good people at French’s have come up with another product mash-up to celebrate the day. French’s Mustard Beer is a craft beer made with passion fruit, key lime, lemon, tangerine, and of course, mustard. The limited-edition beer was brewed by Colorado-based Oskar Blues Brewery and will be available online and at select taproom locations. 

Oskar Blues is no stranger to interesting beer combinations. The brewery currently has a King Cake- and affogato-flavored beers on the menu.

"We're stoked on bold flavors at Oskar Blues Brewery, and we never shy away from a challenge," said Oskar Blues Head Brewer, Juice Drapeau. "With French's Mustard Beer we elevated the Classic Yellow Mustard flavor with tangy lemon and lime to create a tropical wheat ale I'd pair with a loaded hot dog on the hottest day of the year.”

French’s has also come with up some recipes you can make with the new brew to celebrate the popular American condiment. Introduced in 1904 at the World’s Fair, the hot dog condiment has become popular in recipes across the spectrum. Make your next backyard bbq a French’s affair with mustard beer-basted sausages and marinated flank steak, paired with mustard beer bread and an appetizer of French’s mustard beer cheese. French’s Mustard Beer will be available on August 1 at Craftshack.com. The mustard brew comes in a six-pack of cans and retails for around $20. If you’re in Colorado or North Carolina, you can try it at Oskar Blues Brewery taprooms in Brevard, NC, or in Longmont or Boulder, Colorado. French’s Mustard Beer is a limited release, so get it while you can!
