The classic chocolate bar will feature 25 of America’s favorite emojis.
Hershey’s is switching it up this summer with a collection of emoji-marked chocolate bars. The emoji bar will be the first new design in the company’s history. Hershey’s chose emojis in an effort to embrace America’s love for the cultural communicative icons. The redesigned bars will feature a mix of 25 emojis and six different packaging designs. Chocolate lovers can find the bars in stores this summer.
To decide which emoji to feature on the bars, Hershey’s held a series of focus groups with both kids and adults. Icons that made the cut include the smiley face, cool face, fist bump, thumbs up, and the ever-popular poop emoji. The company hopes the bars will bring people together through the sharing of America’s favorite treat.
“Our classic Hershey’s bars were made to be shared with others,” said Kriston Ohm, senior manager of the Hershey’s brand. “By adding an emoji design to each pip of chocolate, we hope that parents and kids are inspired to share a chocolate emoji and make a connection with someone new.”
The limited-edition emoji bars will be available in standard and mini-size snack bars, priced at $.99 for a single and $.4.09 for a 9.45-ounce bag. The emoji chocolate bars are expected to hit shelves nationwide this summer. Fans should get them while they can, as emoji bars are only available while supplies last.
The traditional Hershey’s chocolate bar design is a block letter print of the company name on sectioned and full-size bars.
The Hershey Company was founded by Milton Hershey in Pennsylvania, 125 years ago. Today the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania, is a tourist destination, complete with an amusement park, water park, hotel, and golf course.
